Tossed it on my pack strap before a week of hiking and forgot it was there until I needed to test it. That little thing is piercingly loud for its size, way more than I expected from something so tiny. Feels like a no-brainer for any backcountry kit.

The first time I actually needed to use it, a quick blow cut through the wind noise on the ridge and my buddy heard it from a hundred yards away. It’s so light clipped to my pack strap that I honestly forget it’s there until I need it.

It’s barely bigger than a quarter, but the sound cuts right through the wind—my buddy heard it clearly from a ridge away. I clipped it to my pack zipper and honestly forgot it was there until I needed it.
